Where was the tether switch? Looks like that would be mandatory. As for the runaway, those things don’t have a clutch. There direct drive, I believe.

They do have a clutch, they also have 1 gear i believe for getting out the gate with.

Ok maybe it’s that they don’t have a neutral, because when there at the line they lean them over on the kickstand to adjust there riding gear and the rear wheel is spinning.
I’ve seen a lot of vids where they run away like that. I still wonder where the tether was.
