Just put all new brake lines on my R. What are you peeps using for brake fluid? Reservoir cap says DOT 4. Let me know what you are using.

You can use Dot 3 or Dot 4. They can be mixed. I belive Dot 4 has a higher boiling point.

Brand doesnt really matter much imho. That is because brake fluid has to meet the Dot specifications to be labled as it.

I buy whatever is on the shelf at my local parts store.

DOT 3 and 4 are almost the same....that's what I thought.

I would use the best I could find, like dot 5, specially if you'll be racing with 4 pokers.
Ol 4 poke got to back off the gas & roll into a corner, 250R you run in hard as you can & pitch it sideways, so you'll end up boiling the brake fluid from trying to keep from running over them.
Get the hole shot & nothing to worrie about.

Dot 5 is way different than DOT 3 or 4 fluid. It wont mix and could possibly eat your brake components... So Im told.

You cant mix DOT 5 with any other systems.

Dot 5 is silicone brake fluid it cant be mixed with anything else. Best part of dot 5 is it dont eat paint or plastic or draw moisture like 3 an 4. It also has a higher boiling point than 3 or 4. I have also never heard of it eating of brake parts as long as you have a clean fresh system you should be able to use 5. Here is a good link
