Went to put my new oversized oil tank on last night. What a PITA. Had to remove entire exhaust, now when putting it back on i cant seem to get it through. It is catching on exhaust studs. Is there a way to remove to exhaust studs with out damaging them?? Or does anyone have a tip on putting header back on with this tank?

You could try the double nut trick. That might work just as long as the stud isn't a royal pain.

what i did was take the tank back off put the header on first then take ur oil cooler off and slide the oil tank from the top, thats what i had to do

yeah my dad mentioned the double nut trick. I will try that. If it doesnt work then ill try pulling to oil cooler off. I was trying to decide between that and the header in the first place :(

Be cautious removing the studs, as they're pretty notorious for breaking. I'd say to be on the safe side, try removing the oil cooler first.

Dont touch the studs, you will be sorry when they snap.

I was able to get the tank on there easy by removing the header and the clutch able, its not easy but it can be done.

yeah DO NOT touch the studs lol. they will break! then the motor has to be torn down. Just remove your cooler, take the tank off, put header on, reinstall tank, reinstall cooler. easiest way. Good luck!

Is the CFM one better than the UM?

Same damn thing tbh, the UM one has a little nice heat guard made of fiberglass or something tho.

Wow, I must be lucky. When I went to remove my stock exhaust and install my Big Gun back when I first bought it I removed all the nuts for the exhaust and then one nut wouldn't break loose so it just brought the stud with it, and it's still in good shape. Don't do it though if everyone else says they'll snap because they will, I just got stupid lucky.

Funny thing those studs..

I just had one pull right out of my head during re-assembly today. Woulda had the quad up and running in another 20-30 mins but nooo.

I had repaired it before and now its toast, only way to fix it is to weld in some new material and tap that out for a stud.

So like I said: be careful with them things!

^ already did it 2x before when I had snapped the stud off originally and tried to helicoil it. The material there is super soft believe it or not.

Just gonna weld it shut, drill and retap it and hopefully I never have an issue again.
