View Full Version : 400 gone racing with the 450s

Well i think i made up my mind. Going to keep the old 400ex and rebuild it, add some parts to help use it to the full potential. Gotta keep up with those modded 450s. Plan is to get a 450 next season. But for now what do you guys recommend for motor work, parts, ect. Im gonna loose money on this thing when i go to sell so dont wanna spend to much. Still need to buy a race trailer :S Oh and to race in my class i cant bore it out over 400cc.

So you will be racing 450's, but cant be over 400cc? That doesnt make sense. Get the head ported and a 450 carb. but there isnt much more you can do without going bigger. You could also run e85. Gave mine a little boost when i switched, but you still arent gonna run with 450's.

Sorry should of made that more clear. Im running to classes the lowest being max 400cc. The next one up is all 450s.

not much other than a 450 carb and pandp but if i were you when you tear it down id bore it to a 402 (they dont need to know its just 2 cc) and put in a new piston cause you have run a hard season on that piston and a little last year ill bet its do for a new one :confused:

Stud the head, good gaskets, get the head done, BIG COMPRESSION..
