250r VIN number

Where is the Vin number on the older 250r's. A guy is trying to sell me one and i cant find the vin number on it. It has been repainted but i thought i would still be able to find the number.

On my 87 there is a little tab welded on in the back. Go to www.macdizzy.com He has all the 250r info there.

A guy here in my town is trying to sell me a 250r. It isnt in too bad of shape. It runs but not great and the tires are good. It needs a new paint job and alot of little things. He wants $300 for it. Should I buy it?

Also what is the correct oil fuel mixture for a 250r?

Yea id buy it as long as its not stolen.
I dont know the mixture on it cuzz im rebuilding mine right now and havent ever ridden it. It came in parts.

They are good quads.
But they also made 3 wheelers. Is it a quad or atc ???

deff do that!!! even if you dont plan on re-building it you can always part out. you can make more then $300 on just the motor alone if you sell it. do it up.

the vin numbers were located in different areas on the different heres. heres where there located on the 86's. if for sure its an 86 and this tab is knockout out, odds are its stolen, so i wouldnt buy it.

#1 is where the year of the quad should be. it should read...
"Honda trx250r (then a year)"

#2 is where the vin numbers were on the 86's. im pretty sure they changed on the different years. if the frame is spray painted or rusted. just take a thin pieace of paper (sketch paper if you have) and take a pencil and you can trace the vin numbers, this is what i did to make sure my R wasnt stolen befor i bought it.

according to the factory, 20:1 is the fuel mixture- keep in mind this is using non-synthetic oil. if you are gonna use a synthetic, you must considerably cut down on the oil, like 50:1

i know i need another project. all i need to build a complete other bike is a frmae motor and some bearrings so to me its worth it. even if i didnt have the parts a trx250r is well worth 300 complete in any condition.

It has less power than a 250r. There is a pic in the "quad pictures" post in the open forum.

mainly the only thing in common is that there produced by honda. there not very simular. the 250x has LESS more power then the 250r.

I heard they dont want quads to go over 75 MPH stock cuzz of safety reasons. It might be some new rule but tis prolly only her in Cali like alot of other off road vehicle laws. I know some quads go faster then that so thats why I was aondering if anyone else heard of this ???
