chain adjustment help

Feels like tgere is a lot of slack in my quads chain its a 03 400ex I read how to adjust it but can't figure out what I need to measure or how so I get it right

Very simple.

At the center of the chain measure how high you can move the chain up with your fingers. It should move from the lowest point to the highest point about a 1.25-1.5 inches.

Awsome thanks it was at 5 inches all the way down and 7 inches lifted up I turned it back a little its at 5 inches now and 6 n 1/2 at highest sp that's good.
