First some bike history. 1999 400ex out to a 440 with 12.5comp. Was all built before I got it then I melted the piston. I rebuilt it back to where it was. I run 50/50 c12 with 92 oct. gas with a spal fan. It runs very good no lag no issues. I then put the 3 degree timming key in and now it has a slight bog at first stab of gas. I put it in with the the groove on the right side and held the flywheel to the left. I then took the key out and the bog seems to be gone. Any ideas? Thanks for a newb.
Should not be running a timing key int hat setup without running full 100+ octane. Mixing it wont work.

Is it just from the heat or other reasons to not run it? thanks
Detonation and heat possibly. Do you notice it has a slight ping to it?
In either case, its not a good idea to even bother with the key when you have such a high compression. Not sure exactly what you gained from it, cause without one my bike rips and I only have 11:1
