Nice find!

Change the oil right away, and check the oil filter for shavings, clean the air filter, and I'd adjust the valves.

Other than that, you should be good to go!

K&N has an oil filter cleaner/oil kit for $14 or so. It has special cleaner and oil for their filters. It's available at Autozone if you needed it today or Rockymountain, magicracing, etc.

Yes, Hondas require two different types of oil. "Left side" & "right side" oils as they are commonly referred to.

I'd chunk that K&N and get an UNI personally. You can also use the same oil in both sides. I recommend white bottle Rotella.

Enjoy the bike. Looks ridden on the roads a bunch, but overall, not in too bad of shape. ;)

No don't put the same in on both sides, one side is transmission oil and the other engine. Not the same oil in both sides.

IRISH-RACER rotella isnt sold in motorcycle stores but in walmart and automotive stores it is for diesel motors

and as long as the oil doesn't contain moly its fine for both sides, but make sure NO MOLY in clutch side, but any other oil types will be fine... use the oil that allows you to change very often.. dont run expensive oil and be forced to use it longer because of cost

ok ill see if i can locate an oil that doesnt contain moly..btw whats moly??

DnB_racing

molybdenum, an additive to reduce corrosion, but the clutches dont like it

i was talking to a guy and he said he runs fully synthetic oil and he doesnt change the transmission side as much as the clutch side. i looked on walmarts website and cant find rotella

I owned my 05 kicker for 5 years before I just sold it. I beat the **** out of it, racing A class harescrambles. Never one did I open the engine. I adjusted the valves regularly, but to be honest, they only needed to be adjusted two times.

Oil. I changed my oil every 2 races or about 5 hours. I ran Rotella T in BOTH sides. Dont listen to the people who say dont run the same oil on both sides. They have no idea what they are talking about. 15w-40 is the only blend I use, it comes in a white bottle. Its a full dino oil and I never had any problems with it. Ran it in my 300ex for 3 years, tore the engine apart for maintenance and it was spotless in there. Rotella is def the way to go tho.

Man do I miss my R :(

its 10 bucks a gallon instead of 10 bucks a quart:D

find an oil that you trust, that's not overpriced and run that, just keep the oil and filter clean, run that in both sides, like I mentioned just make sure no moly added, and run that in both side you will be fine.

you dont need to run the highest priced oil out there to have good oil... the very best oil is clean oil

Nice clean 05. You can run the same oil in both sides. I've tried a few different oils, but you just run Rottela T non synthetic. You can get it at Wallmart or just about any were. I do engine work and after runing this oil my engine is all ways really clean. Some people say you need to run a wet clutch oil because they don't have molys, but my clutch never slips. I change my oil in both sides after two rides. You can get more out of you tranny side (right side) but not recommended.

K@N is the way to go as long as you use a outer wear that is in good shape. You can clean it with just dish soap and water. Some times I soak it in some simple green and water.

a uni filter is the way to go in dusty areas. I run uni in the dry summers and I use the K+N in the wet springs

the uni filters the fine particles better for dusty conditions, but I like the way the K+N doesnt hold water to drown it out in the spring, run what is best for each condition,

many are to stubborn to adapt ... dot be afraid to change sprockets, jetting, filters, tires,or anything that helps, for the day if needed to adapt for different situations

moneys tight and i want to get the machine maintained right before i go spending it on sprockets. for now i want to change oil, service it and get it jetted 100%.

then maybey some sprockets and some cosmetics..

the weather is ireland is different every day.

i dont want to be changing filters..can i just buy one and keep it clean?

maybey get a pre filter for the K&n or get a uni?

if its mostly wet and muddy i would use K+N if mostly dry and dusty I use uni, but either is a great filter if maintained and oiled properly,

if your going to have to run a pre filter all the time on a K+N then get a uni,, but that's a very debated subject..

they both just need to be kept clean and they both work well,
I like them both,, never had any real problems with either, when used as recommended

I was content with running a uni. Make sure you get the airbox adapter for it though so it doesnt pop off when your riding. A lot of companys make the adapter, but here is an example. http://www.alwaysopenmall.com/layouts/02/unsecure/item.asp?SiteID=223&DepartmentID=85&CategoryID=947&GroupID=7015&ItemID=30841&StartNum=1&Sort=&ShowPics=0&ListByCode=1&Brand=&GenderAgeGroupID=0&MaxPrice=&SearchString=&ItemCode=&IsOnlyOnSale=0&FromHomePage=0&FromFamily=0&ProductFamilyID=0&RelatedItemID=0

I ran the CS filter for a while, but the glue broke down around the rubber. Switched to a UNI and ran the same one for 2 more years and it was on the quad when I sold it.

i have one of those adapters with the k&n... i couldnt understand what it was for?
