blaster crank direction?

rebuilt a blaster bottom end with new crank and bearings.., the crank spins smooth and true, but only spins one way (forward). Is this normal

Its not in a gear right. I would think it should roll both ways. It makes sense to. I have a yz 490(older bike) in restore mode right now but the rod goes back and for forth going both ways

I took the clutch side cover off and figured out the kick starter spring wasnt seated all the way in the little hide groove, thus not allowing the idle gear to drop back in place...Thanks for the reply..
