View Full Version : HELP! 2009 DARTS to the left unexpectantly

I have recently acquired an 09 TRX 450ER.

Two problems:

It still darts to the left when accelerating some times.

(it had a bent left wheel and Control arm that I fixed)

It has factory front tires and holeshots on the back- 6 psi

AXLE seems fine/ not bent

Any ideas on what else to looks at?

Suspension is incredbly stiff and harsh
(I have adjusted to the softest positions)

I am thinking about triple rate springs.
Maybe a different link on the back?

Cant afford LTR right now.

Any suggestions that can be done cheaply would be greatly appreciated.

is it a steering issue, or only when you give it gas.. if its when hard on the throttle, then tire pressure will do that, or even body position

if when going high speed its alignment, possibly a camber adjustment

but is it a front end feeling problem or an acceleration problem?

It's at speed after I hit the throttle. It happens fast when it happens. It tracks perfectly , does not pull otherwise

I don't think it's body position I have ridden and raced for 20 plus years. I have never had a quad this untrustworthy in the handling dept

I think it could be the front alignment or maybe the axle is not square

You know any ways to easily check those?

maybe a bent front brake rotor. or locked up brake caliper.

Check your axle bearings

flip you rear tires and see if it changes at all. Under hard acceleration, the front-end gets light. If one rear tire is grabbing harder, it could cause it to push in one direction or the other. I am assuming with your level of experience riding, you have checked for loose swingarm and carrier bearings, wheel hubs, tire pressure, etc. It just sounds like you are getting more traction on one side. I'd be surprised if the same thing happened on pavement.
