alright I've been trying to get my quad jetted right and i cant get it..

its a 88 bottom end wit ha 85 ATC cyl unported with a 35mm PWK and an air box delete.

I dont remember what i have for a pilot off hand but I'm sure its a 40 or 42, I have the needle 2nd clip down ( its EDG or something like that i know its E something) and now I a 168 main it its really good up to like 3/4 throttle, at WOT it just runs like a new 450 hitting the rev limiter, I had pulled on the choke and that made it way worse so that would mean I'm still rich right?

I've ran 38 pwk and i know i had like a 175-178 mains in there, around there I know this is a smaller carb but would the 3 mm make that the jetting be in the 150's?

so I should be in the 150's you think? or would my needle be a factor also?

WIth my 86 I was running a stock carb, Procircuit pipe, v-force reeds and right around 1800ft elevation I had a 155 for a main and that was pretty good. I was running a 162 before that and it would just gurgle on top.

I know every quad is different but try maybe a 165 main and see how it is. Do a plug chop with a new plug installed and your current jetting. This will give you a baseline to start with.

Also Carlos had a post somewhere telling you what to listen for without even riding the quad....going through diffent throttle setting and then you can tell if that certain circuit is lean or rich. I'll see if I can find it.

Well first and foremost why wouldn't you go back to the basics before guessing or thinking you know...? Whats your plug look like? What are you seeing in your plug chops? If you haven't done these simple things and your gonna go guess your main jet size you'll never get anywhere, you don't even know what needle you have...?

I dont know what needle it is off the top of my head... I've ran this carb before and ran it with a 168 but its still rich, everything the same so im guessing theres something different with in the two motors i had it on. Its really close, just not dead nuts.

I put a 158 in it and shes AWESOME! maybe a little too awesome, I didnt have much time to ride cause it was dark, I have a 160 I'm gonna try out and see how that does.
