I am looking for a car to save gas and keep the miles off my truck. I don't care if it's a coupe, sedan or hatch. 4-banger or V6 doesn't really matter either. My budget is <$8k. Im just looking for a nice little reliable car that I won't have to dump a bunch of money into it to keep it running. What would you guys suggest?

Oh yeahh.. NO Honda's or Yota's!

i'd just get a little old ford ranger 5spd. but if you want a car...GEO metro for sure ;)

x2 SS cobalt, but only the later turbo'd ones. Not the supercharged ones.

Didn't he say under $8000? Regardless, you have alot of options if you have 8g's to work with.

But if you find a turbo cobalt you are going to spend 15k + and it will probably have 100k miles on it at that....

hell you could buy 3 chevy cavaliers for 8K lol. May even be able to pick up an early model dodge caliber as well. I've seen them in that ballpark recently. Some are awd and get very respectable mileage.

Anyways.. turned out my uncle's dad has a 2004 Monte Carlo in PERFECT shape for $7500. Going to bank Monday to get financed.. :D

You could drive your truck 30k to 35k on 8,000 worth of fuel. Thats what 3 or 4 years. No extra insurance ,maintanence, tires, parking space, depreciation, ect. . Just saying.

Unless your truck is getting under 10mpg and you live a long ways from work it might cost more for an econobox.
Whats your situation and lets do some math.

I am putting 250 miles on my truck a week. Which is the biggest issue I have. And that's $90 in gas a week.

$8k will not even last me 2 years, and that's at $3.50/gal. Gas is around $3.75+/gal.

For a cobalt? Hell with that. I pay a little over $200 a month for a fully insured 2010 f250 and a 2002 mustang gt.

Great engine. Even more fun if you can find one swapped into an older Civic. I had a B18C (JDM version) in a 1989 Si hatch and with bolt ons and good tires it'd run 13's, get 35mpg, and was reliable as hell.

I always used to make fun of those til I drove one the other day. Surprisingly a very fun, drivable car.

I realize that, BUT, the only thing around here that wasn't absolutely junk were Civic's and Teggy's. Plus, there are almost no Teggy's around here. It's all civic's.
