I have a stock 2000 400ex and was wanting to do the k&n powerkit, possibly w/ the airbox cover off, I'm not sure yet. What I am wondering is what all will I have to do/adjust to make this work. I hear about guys putting new pilot jets in and adjusting their air/fuel screw. What all might I have to do besides throwing the k&n filter on and replacing the #148 main jet with the proper one? I'm new at all this.

thanks :)

They give you anew needle too. I waited about 6 months after I got my power kit to put the new needle in. I couldn't tell a difference with the new needle. But other than that there isn't anything special you have to do.

What does that needle do. How hard is it to put in?

There used to be a thread in the frequently asked questions that showed step by step pictures of how to install the jets and everything.

Wow, thanks!! That's a really good tutorial for newbs like me.

Is it really necessary to replace the stock needle with a new one when you do the k&n upgrade? Also, do you have to mess with the pilot jet at all?

thanks
