What has been said over and over about the 2 stroke vs 4? It takes much more finesse to ride the 2 stroke, that's why he rides the 4 poke.....

No, you'd just be an idiot to ride one if you can have a built 450.

Here's another from a couple years ago. Not as good but still a 2 stroke.

It would be fun to watch but can you imagine what Yamaha would say if he was riding the dated yz250 over their revolutionary fancy reversed engine 450?

I wonder if the 250 could jump his ego.

thats why everyone rides a 4 stroke...

it takes skills to ride a bicycle fast compared to a moped too..who the hell would want to race bicycles against mopeds?

I heard there is a rule change that you can run a 250 two stroke in the 250 four stroke class. If that is the case, they would def. be worth running!

Yeah it's true but supposedly the only advantage is indoors. So I guess we'll see if anybody switches in sx.

it would be pretty funny, because alot of the young pros never had to race 2 strokes. so if there was a couple guys that could ride the 2 stroke for what it is, they would smoke everybody. and the young'ins would be pissed!

Thats what im saying theese little kids who think there the **** on 4 strokes would cry to there team managers and all there factory guys about how its not fair blah blah.As you both have said tho it will take riders who can ride the 2 stroke to its potential.

It has been a rule for a couple of years in AMA, but only at the amateur level. Can't race a 250 two stroke in the 250 class at the AMA pro level, unless something just changed recently.

The 250 2-stroke was in the same class as the 450 were for a long time. The one's that alot of people havn't rode is the open class big bore 2-strokes. The CR500,KX500,YZ490,IT490,IT465,CR450 ETC. If you want to get on a machine that will peel your eyes back ride one of them.

if you go out to a race and watch quaifiying you will still see guys out there on 2 strokes in both classes and some make it and some dont. 4strokes are way faster beleve it or not. im a 2 stroke fan threw and threw they just seam like there faster when you ride them the 4 strokes are very deceiving when ridin. Oh and look for bubba with JGR next yr on suz!!

Yes i will agree a 450 4 stroke is faster then a 250 2 stroke lol simple match tells you a larger displacement will produce more power. We were talking about 250 2 strokes vs 250 4 strokes in which case the 250 2 stroke would destroy the 250 4 stroke now if the 2 stroke was 450cc like the 450 4 stroke was it would destroy that as well im not trying to argue im stating a simple fact that a 2 stroke makes more raw power then a 4 stroke at the same displacement not to mention using 1/2 the internal motor parts a 4 stroke does maybe even 3/4 less...

chronicsmoke
09-14-2011, 05:55 AM
They should allow like a 306cc 2 stroke limit like they do in quad racing. Still not an even displacement number, but That extra motor work would definetly close the gap between a 2-T and 4-T.

That would be wicked :D

powerbomb400
09-14-2011, 08:17 AM
Because the 2 -stroke has a power stroke every other stroke and the excess case pressure is vented thru the intake port which gives it the upper rpm boost is the advantage over the 4-stroke. The 4-stroke delivers a smoother power curve that is more useable in the lower rpm's cause it gives a power stroke every fourth stroke. Maico is back in business in England and is producing a 700 cc 2-stroke. Now that would be a hoss!!

powerbomb400

They need to have a open class in mx and sx again. Let it be race what you bring. Something to separate the young men from the wee tights. You can go the Macio's website and check them out.

I never understood why they wouldn't up the CC limit on 2 strokes. An extra 50 or so CC's would probably be plenty.

When did Villopoto ride yamahas? Pretty sure he has been on Kawi's his entire career even amatures. And why should he leave Kawi after winning a SX and MX title this year? I guess I see no point to your post at all.
