just purchased an 02 400ex yesterday and was wondering whats the best oil to run in it, it has synthetic now. also do u put oil in it where the dipstick is thanks

You fill it from the hole by the dipstick. 2 quarts is how much, add 1.5qts, start up and let run for 10 mins then fill rest.

Many use fancy synthetic oils and ones that cost $$$. You want an oil without friction modifiers and one that the little label on the back that doesnt say "energy conserving" Both of those things are bad for a wet clutch system like the EX has where the entire engine uses the same oil.

Most like to use shell rotella T 15w-40. Its a very good conventional oil, good for the EX's engine set up and it doesnt wear out to easy. best of all its cheap, an entire gallon can be had at walmart for like 13 bucks.

Is that a synthetic and if so can I go from synthetic back to regular oil. Thanks

Thats a regular old conventional oil, and yes you can go back.
