How much horsepower are you guys seeing before the connecting rod becomes the weak link?

Thanks,
Brian

it is not the weak link, and for it to BECOME the weak link,.... you would already have to spend many Thousands of dollars, in other high performance mods.

There are guys here who have built high compression 460 strokers,...
There are guys who have done turbo's...
There are guys who have done Nitrous...

and we rarely read of a connecting rod not handeling it.

Sure some have WORN out, due t either LOTS of hours on them, ... or poor maintainence ,.... but that is not the rods fault.

why do you ask ???
And what are you planning on building ???

How much HP do you intend to get out of the 400EX ???

The combo will be:

416, 12:1 comp. JE, heavily worked head, kibblewhite valvetrain, TC 924 or big web cam, 40mil lectron, Dyna programmable ignition, lightened flywheel, etc..

I will probably build a spare engine similar to this in a 440 combo as well.

I'm mostly flat track racing, so it'll see some RPM.

should hold just fine on a 440 or 416

As long as you are tt racing your good to go. I have a 440 on nos and i can tell you this. I my self will not build anothere nos bike with a stock rod, it will snap. When mine did it there was nothing good left . the head ,cam, tranmission, casing, clutch hell you name it , it was all mess'd up lol Now i have a 440 and a 426 that are on nos with after market rods in them.
