how do i check my CDI box on my 89 250r?

Put it on a known good running machine and see if there is any change or put a CDI from a known good running machine on yours and see if it runs any better.

CDIs are funny things, electrically. They're so complex that there isn't a real "test" for them. In order to function correctly, you would need to input all the little signals that it normally gets, you simply can't do that with a normal meter.

The test for a CDI is either to swap it with a known good one to see a difference, or the Honda Repair manual basically lays out a process of elimination. Test everything else in the electrical system, and if all the other stuff checks out okay, then replace your CDI because it's the only remaining possibility.

yup, thats waht i did, everything else was good, so time for a new cdi

with out a spare to swap its hard to be absolutely sure it is the cdi

ya, well thts really the only place i can start, im going to get a new wiring harness while im at it, mine is pretty butchered up
