Ive got an 87 250r, stock swingarm and shock with aftermarket extended axle and up front its got leager +2 a-arms with works triple rate front shocks. I know for the back end I should just get a durablue adjustable lowering link and soften up the spring preload. but for the front end, ive got the shocks softened up as much as they will go but it still sets up to high for my liking. Im trying to get the bike setup for atv rodeos and do stuff like barrel and pole races and maybe some flat track/ oval races. I dont plan on doing any kind of jumping or anything with it. How well would 300ex front shocks work on the front end to lower it down?

-Shorter front shocks- every 1/2" shorter drops you an 1". (Or if you are on something as smooth as a rodeo arena you can just put a solid piece of material from the frame to the a-arm. I'll attach a picture of a guy with this set up later when I get home. Looks goofy but works.)

-You will need a (anti-roll) sway bar.

-The durablue strut works well for the rear. I don't recommend the durablue front lowering kit.

No need for a sway bar this way...:p

well I got my R lowered pretty nice. I made my own lowering link for the rear, nothing fancy but it gets the job done. On the front I used some blaster (or banshee) stock front shocks and it lowered it down to almost the perfect stance. in the front im like 49 inchs wide and a hair over 50 inchs in the back. I'll post some pics later. now all I need is some small mx tires.

i'd stay away from the durablue lowering strut for the rear. had a scary experience once. hammered thru some whoops in 5th gear then parked the bike and got off. i walked away, turned and looked back at the bike, the rear fenders were sitting on the tires. the jam nuts on the strut had backed off and the strut had came apart. hate to think what might have happened if it had done that 30 seconds earlier.....
