Just wondering what you guys might think of this.

My mom has a nice suburban that has an aftermarket air dam below the front bumper.
The air dam was designed with some fog lights that are no longer available, and due to the way they fit, other similar types of fog lights wont fit properly.

The fog lights are burning out the H3 bulbs occaisionally, and I am considering converting them to HID, with one of the cheap ebay kits.

What are your guys thoughts on this ?

Has anyone here tried installing one of these kits into cheap fog light housings?

I did it on my truck in october or novmeber, holds great and are really bright. I went w/ a 35w kit from dmm tuning. If yours are big enough, you can use a 55w kit(mine are small pucks).

well, I'm going to give it a shot.
I just bought this kit in the H3 5000k version

Here's a mfg's pic, of the actual spoiler / air dam, that she has on her suburban.
I hope the kit works well mounted into the housings shown in the pic.

They shouldn't be bad at all. Did them in my mustang and all of my trucks I had. I'd do the heads too while you're at it. Hardest part is finding somewhere to mount the ballast.

I would run run 55 watt hids ina fog light. It would produce way to much heat for the little fog housing.

I have 35 watt H3 fogs. Been working great. But I have glass lenses in my fogs.

You might need to run the H3C (smaller bulb) to fit your fog light.

But if its the heat causing the bulbs to go to quickly then HIDs arnt going to help.

Thanks for the replies, and yeah, I bought the 35w kit for the fogs, because I was thinking the same thing about the small housings and the heat.
mom's fogs do have glass lenses, but the housings are plastic.
Would it be a good idea to drill some vent holes on the back sides of the housings ? I'm a bit leery of doing that, for fear of water getting inside the housings.

Mine came factory with a vent hole in the back of the housing. I don't think it would be a bad idea to make one if it doesn't have one already. Don't see water getting in as long as you don't put vent holes in the top or front.

It is really a good idea, Its better to for 4300K HID . It will provide your bike a better look and better light at night.

Don't put HID kits in non - projector housings. The light is not focused and is freaking irritating and obnoxious for oncoming drivers. Yes it does give you more actual light, but the light is all over the place. Projector headlamps focus the light where it is meant to be, not EVERYWHERE in front of your vehicle. Atleast buy some aftermarket projector light housings before installing HIDs. Please.
