How many of you guys ride in the winter?
I ride till the snow comes, once we get any amount of snow i find its a waste of time because you do more pushing than riding.

we ride year round here. if the snow is deeper than 6" then it can be quite a strain on your quad. Here in VA we dont normally get that much snow however. Last week is the exception to the rule since we got 2+ feet in 48 hours. No riding for the past 2 sundays for me :(

Yeah , We got like 2 feet here ..
I try to stay on the trails that are beat down by the snowmobiles.
I haven't ridden much though because the trails have alot of road crossings so the salt from the roads rusts my Ex up pretty good.

I ride year round cuzz I dont get much snow here. Actually never got snow where I live only hail and that was the closest to snow. Ive ridden in the snow and liked it cuzz when I fell it didnt hurt and I was on my kx so I would be slidin all over the place. What a rush:) Sometimes its too hot to ride in the summer though

I don't ride in the winter for many reasons.

Too much snow here - bikes are too low dont go anywere
Too cold - bikes dont wanna start and I'm a woman
Dont wanna rejet - bikes are too lean for the thin air.

I rode yesterday on the Crow River, 10 degrees plus a little wind. Had to stop every ten minutes and hold hands near the engine.

i love riding in the snow, its much different then dirt, and if u can keep conrtol in the slippery snow, ull tear it up on dirt, thats my opinion, i think its harder to ride in the snow cuz of the slipperyness, so i think it improves my handling

i ride about every day in the snow. we have only had like 10" but alot of it drifted and melted so there are alot of clear spots where you can be going full speed then hit a snow drift:eek: it sucks when you just try to go in the snow cuz i have to get all the way back on the quad (kneeling on the back of the seat with feet hanging off) then i pop it in third and let the tires spin the snow until it reaches the ground then i pop the front wheels off to cause less resistance in the front and i can go pretty good. but i dont have a rev limiter on my 200sx so the pipe starts glowing red from the hight rpms:eek2: .... hopefully i dont blow my engine one of these days.

i have a few reasons

rejetting
cold
tirespin on a 2stroke is a pain in the @ss, specially in snow
cleaning in cold
bikes to low
snow destroys chains, bearings, and rusts everything

I dont ride all that much in the winter but if i do it is on my 4x4

Jay300ex
02-24-2003, 04:09 PM
I dont ride my EX in the snow, but I do ride the 300 4X4. I usually take the winter to jump on that thing for more liesure, take out some cocoa and just cruise through the foot or 2 or snow and enjoy myself. I have a heated suit the I plug into the quad so I dont have to worry about getting to cold.. Oh and during the summer I have a river kit so I can take it in about 4 and a half feet of water no prob!

nothing like riding with buddies in the snow busting through drifts and doing 360's on mainstreet and don't forget all the other crazy stuff we do because it doesn't hurt as much to crash. I hate the mud though.

02-24-2003, 06:52 PM
can't my quads are always apart in the winter for a winter project..:ermm:
