Installing long travel front end

I'm going to install my long travel front end this weekend. Do I absolutely need a ball joint press or is there another way to pop those stock joints out? My friend said he couldn't get his trx's out without that special tool.

u can make your own tool like i did it's easy I can take some photo's if needed

put the nut on the end and smack it with a hammer ,, depending on how old it is
