Working on an 04-05 450R carb, got some pilot jets from jetsrus and realized, the pilot jet that came out, a stock 48 iirc is shorter in length than the new 52 pilot jet. Looking at jetsrus's website it shows a 400ex pilot jet is the same size as the one I pulled out of the 450r carb-23.5mm, the 52 pilot I just got is 28mm.

Does it make any difference if the jets longer?

That happened to me in my 07. Everything seemed to work just fine with a longer jet

CJM the 28mm is a series 21.... and the 23.5mm is series 26....the series 21 has a longer head to draw full from deeper into the bowl,

basically the longer is giving you more time in the pilot circuit, and can change the timing of the whole circuit,(it can case other issues) but if you want to run more slow riding, and remain in the pilot longer, it will work ok,
but you might notice a tuning issue when it enters the main circuit...

im thinking it could be rich in the middle, as the 2 circuits will overlap longer

but i dont think it will be lean, so no damage should occur, but you might notice a flat spot
