I'm sure a place like LA Sleeve could make you one if they don't already offer it.

I will call them, will an xr 400 head work on a 400ex? And does it flow better?

I'm not sure if the automatic decompression mechanism is the same on the XR head. It should flow the same, it's essentially the same engine except for some slight differences in the bottom end, the cam profile, and top end gasket thicknesses.

The decomp mechanism probably isn't a big issue, since several aftermarket 400ex cams eliminate the piece on the cam that makes it function. Mine doesn't have one (HotCams stage 1) and it starts fine.

why couldnt you just press out the 440 sleeve and reinstall new stock sleeve?

Because the outer diameter of a 440 sleeve is larger. When they install it, they remove the stock sleeve and actually bore the cylinder itself and then install the larger sleeve. To go back to a stock bore piston, you would need a sleeve with the same OD as a 440 sleeve and a stock (~85mm) ID.
