Hey guys, as some of you may remember I started on this project back in the spring while I was doing my engine rebuild. Now I have finally completed installing my stock XR400 clutch cover on my 400ex. Here are some pics:

Parts for install:

-XR400 inner clutch cover w/ kickstart hole welded shut
-Any year XR400 inner clutch hub and outer plate (the part that the grooves on the metal plates rest on and the outer cover that holds the assembly together).
-XR400 steel plates (can use 400ex fibers)
-XR400 clutch springs
-XR400 clutch actuator arm

Also, the clutch cable holder had to be modified to fit on the XR side case. I still need to cut off the excess sticking out but everything seems to be running fine. I was also able to still use the stock 400ex clutch basket!

Without knowing the design of the kick start, would it be possible to put the kick started assembly on as well?

Thanks for all the comments guys.

As for the kick start, I am sure it will work if you had all of the kick start components for the XR. In order to do this, you would have to modify the brake lever to accommodate the kick start lever as it is in the way of the kick shaft. I am pretty sure there are some good write-ups on this conversion if you do a search.
