I hate to see people cutting wires.....get the dynatek ignition witch raises it to 9100 ish or get the new MSD ignition where you set it. by the way it is a rev limiter not a speed limiter. More than likely you are running out of power to overcome wind resistance and such to push past that speed.

no its a top speed limiter. the 660's amd 700's both have them, on the 660 you have to remove a little gear and grind every other tooth off to the sensor dets an inaccurate reading, amd on the 700 its the blue wire that runs from the cpu to the final drive shaft of the tranny

I believe he knows that, its a 5th gear timing retard. Cutting the blue wire and grounding it disables it but the Dynatek or MSD will do away with the speed limiter and raise the rev limiter some without hacking the harness.

but that costs 350 bucks more.....and increasing the rev limiter on a big bore quad is usless and dangerous. they stop making power long before the rev limiter.

Well, thats not even the reason why people buy them. The rev limiter isnt an issue until you get into .500"+ lift cams and +3 TI valved porting gets into the mix. The main reason why to buy one is to be able to have an adjustable timing system and secondary reason is the 5th gear limiter. If you just wanna to do away with the limiter sure, just ground the wire but the more you internally mod your bike the more you will benifit from tuning the timing. Just think how much power could be added if you adjusted the timing on this build:
