I just ordered the 460Kit from LRD, and was interested to see if anyone here has this setup... And what do you think of it.

It consist of a Corillo(Spelling???) Rod, Custom JE Piston, Sleave, and having the Crank stroked 4mm. they said that it will end up at 460cc at 14-1 compretion. They also have to shaving 4th gear a bit. I'm having them light'n the flywheel and advance the timming to top it off...

I also ported the head and I'm looking a t the 450f Carb for it.

If it goes as good as expected I will be selling a full race 440 with a one of a kind XR440 race sleave in it...

14 - 1 compression sounds a little high i would take it down to 12-1 or at least 13 -1 imo

LRD has a custon built set of gaskets that they said would hold...
I thought that if it didn't I would put in a extra stock base gasket and that should bring it down a bit...

LRD does a good job. You bike is going to be a beast. What exhaust are you planning to run? I just bought the LRD setup and love it, nice sound, great power and its very well built. Good luck with the big bore.

I have a LRD pipe on it now. I thinks I'll try it first. I also have a WB that has a slight bit bigger head pipe that I might run...

I talked to a freind that races a rail(Drag) and he said that if I wrap the head pipe it will help the exahust flow and let the big bore breath... I havn't talk to anyone that does this on a quad yet but it sound like it be worth a try...

That LRD 460 will be awesome. You will be blowing guys away with that. Are you getting the full kit?

I'm getting most of it from LRD but I like the 440 sleaves that Curtis Sparks is using that are not tapered at the bottom. I'm also having a local shop do the mill work for me and then I'll assemble it.

Varmit:

We have been discussing whether to offer a straight sleeve for the 440 upgrade (no step). We've polled our 440EX customers and so far the "no step" sleeve alternative is failing.

You seem to like the idea--would you mind sharing how you came to this point of view?

I have seen where the bottom of the tapered sleaves crack. I've been running a none tapered sleave in my 440 for a while and have not had any issues with it.
What kind of issues have you seen with the straight sleaves?

Varmit:

Can you identify the origin of the sleeve(s) you've seen with this problem? If you would rather answer that off the forum, feel free to email or PM me.

Since you are already running a straight sleeve, did you inquire about this to LRD with respect to their 460 kit? If so, I would be interested to know what their response was.

I appreciate your input on this. I take the performance of our products very seriously. To date, the problem you describe has not presented itself on our sleeves, but I want to revisit this topic with our customers to be sure.

I don't see a down side to using a straight sleeve as long as you aren't paying a premium for it and you don't have to bore your case.

Thanks,

Just out of curiousity....

How much would something like that set you back...
