Well, i rode the 2010 Outlaw 525S for about an hour today.... It sucks.

The no-link rear suspension, although high tech, had way to much kick even after adjusting it.

The front suspension sat way to high for MX and was still too high and too mushy for XC.

The 525S ran out of power too fast on the top end and seems overly hyped as a BIG BORE, but doesn't stand up to its big name. It just doesn't breath well...

And the greatest downfall...... Still using a carb, even though all of its current competitors except honda are now using fuel injection.

If you had $20,000 to spend, it would make a great quad with a lot of work, but if you can't spend it, don't buy this one..

Try a Can-Am DS450, I tried the XC version and I wish I had the cash..

tommy! **** you buddaah! Craptor wannabe mx'er...mother..^^&%^#... :blah:

Dude the 525s's come stock with ****TYYY suspension. they dont even have the podium shocks on the front.

(and PS trailrider: Honda/KTM/ and polaris all dont use fuel injection. and thats a good portion of the market. Also the 525 motor in there is the EXACT same motor in the ktm 525XC quad (literally down to the internal part numbers). It running out of power on the top end is either jetting or gearing.)

The 525 S's arent bad, but they dont really have a niche in the market. They arent set up to be even close to an MX ready back from the factory, and arent the best XC quad in the world either. Not a bad quad....just not useful for anyone other than a rec rider.

We have been using the outlaws for 4 years and I love them. They are super easy to maintain, and for about 10k, not 20, I can build the bike to win.

We went to Southwick a few weeks ago and won 3 overalls, and then this past weekend up to maine and won 4 overalls in 3 different divisions.

Were headed to E-Town next weekend for the next round in the NEATV Series, so if you anywhere near there take a day trip out and check them out.

and going with what the lane said, the 450 comes with the piggy back fox podium shocks, which makes a big difference, but we run the walsh front with floats and then the upgraded fox rear with anti bottoming tech and its a great combination.

so what exactly is it about the bike that would make you think you would need to spend more on it to make it race ready than any other bike?

Necessities -

A arms and suspension will cost the same as any other bike.

Exaust systems still cost the same as any other bike.

Wheels - handlebars - axles all cost the same

Cams - pistons -ect all cost the same as well.....

What is it that makes it cost more?

from what I'v heard almost any ktm motor is more expensive to build and/or rebuild then other brands
