400ex problems

alright guys...i have an 01 400ex and it has never been rebuilt and finally died, not sure what is wrong with it yet. i was riding it one day and it just stopped and wouldnt start again...i hit the electric start button and it turns over but is making a weird noise. like agrindy sqeeky noise, i wondered what it could be so i figured i could come on here and find out
