looking for help with tuning i have bought my daughter a 08 drr 50 that she will be racing the rest of the seasson and the next she already is raceing the 50c dirtbiks but wanted to give the quads a shot also ok to start i think the quad is stock but to me it seems to stalling to high from the factory i set the jumper wire in the cdi to limit and it hits the limiter just as it starts to move. today i got a rpm meter and it is stalling at 5900-6200 on the meter could this be something wrong or is it suppose to stall that high on a all stock 50

yup, or higher. I remember that moment..damn it revs high, but don't go any where. those cvts are meant to be ridden full rpms, the shifting just happens. without that high rpm "take off", they really run crappy.

does take some getting use to for a rider, especially a dirt bike rider that is not used to hearing the rpms that high, buts its ok. scares mom's too - you just have to remind them its loud, not fast :-)

I'd also take that cdi limiter off (clip) and restrict speed through throttle screw stop, or just lighten up the roller weights a lot. other wise you get where it starts killing rpms just when you start moving. if you throttle screw stop it at about 7500-8000 rpms, should run ok. if that is still to fast for your rider, go real real light on roller weights - or just take them out.

yeh i had limited the throttle first it seems like you got to go little over half throttle to get moveing and one it gets going it alittle slugish intill it picks up in the rpms , i had already ordered alot of differant weight and springs and such just caint wait to get to it and try differant set ups

50s are there own breed and stalling higher will make the bottom easier to deal with
if you go to high it will shorten the life of the clutch and torsion springs
seems like it was the white hebo torsion lasted the longest for us

and make sure it is tracking straight quads are most similiar to a car and need to be squared
with correct toe in
and look for anything causing friction
with a 50 it needs to roll very easy!

pvl will make it all alot better

ok it seems alittle better , i talked to a tech and he recamended for my appliation and track to go with 3.75 rollers a green kombat main spring so i just tried it and it is deff alot better , now does anybody have any ideas were to go from here with clutch shoe springs i got 1000 1500 2000 and the stock 1's i am running just the airfilter mod with the stock pwk 21 with a 105 main jet with a 19/35 gearing all the stuff we would be running as of now is more of superross tracks real tight not very long of straights

Stock axle only allowed. We only broke the one and I think it was pinned over a big jump and landed on the right rear tire only, that was mid season last year and we put a new drr axle in and have had no issues so far in stock limited
