If I wanted to put this big gun system on my 400 can I just put on and ride or is there things I will need to do to motor?

Sounds good will I gain a noticeable amount of power with the pipe and jetting the carb?

So is jetting to get more fuel to the carb?

yupp. becaue an aftermarket exhaust lets the engine "breathe" better and alows more airflow thus needing more fuel (richer jets)
im below 1500 feet and i jetted my big gun system 160/42 and it runs flawless. but i also have a filter which i reccomend! and carb removed! i figured i mightas well do it all and do it right the first time.

haha yupp, i reccomend a sparks or uni or any other foam filter. if you have a K@N and dont ride in dusty conditions i wouldnt worry..just MAINTAIN it.

I have that full system on my 426, it sounds good, nice deep tone. You'll be very happy with it.

Jetting controls how much fuel is being sprayed OUT of the carb and IN to the intake of the combustion chamber.

The fuel is gravity fed to the carb. Jetting has no control over how much fuel enters the carb.

A guy I work with is telling me that if I go with the new pipe and jet the carb that the bike will never run the same he says it will not start as easy and that I wont be able to just cruise the trails because it will be a rasce bike

^ that's completely false. He doesn't know what he's talking about..

Dial in the carb, dial in the jetting and you'll never have an issue. A stock bore/stroke, piped, filtered, jetted with a 450r/FCR is far from a race bike, but is a trail monster. And will give you a smile from ear to ear :D

well that guy must be retarded it wont make it a race bike by any means just make it soud better and a little (very little) more power and if you jet it i will start better than ever 158 main 42 piliot and 2end or 3 clip needle for a slipon and filter

Is there any drilling involved to make bigger jets fit?

Nope! Just unscrew stock jets, and screw in the new larger jets. :)

Picture jets as a bolt with a hole that the fuel flows through. Bigger jets just mean a bigger hole.
