I am really looking for some help here, i already own a 45 ACP Glock 21, but i am looking for a 40 S&W... I really don't have much money to spend. My budget is something like 200-350. Its just going to be a self defense weapon and something to take with me while hunting and while riding atvs and stuff. I will also do a little target practicing with it. I don't like taking the 45 ACP because i use it for police academy, and i can't afford another one. I don't like how Hi-Points shoot or feel... so don't suggest them. I would also like a full size or military or law enforcement size.

Think you might have to expand your budget a little more.

Well for something reliable in that price range, buy used.
Check gunbroker and auctionarms for police trade-ins. They usually have Glock 22+23's and Smith 4006,etc.
Only downfall is the extra $$ for ffl transfer and shipping.(I just checked atwellequipment has a G22 for $330 buy it now on g-broker +$18 shipping.)
You wont get a looker, but it'll go bang every time.
Good luck!

What about a S&W Sigma 40VE? good reviews and not a bad price?

Regardless how cool the gun looks or appeals to you. Shoot a few of them and see what they feel like to you, how well you shoot them. A badass looking gun might make you shoot like a 2$ hooker.. I think your not going to find a new gun for 300 buks, or one that is reputable.. I paid over 500 for a reconditioned sig 229.. And if your looking in that end of guns, H-K, Beretta, ect your going to be hard up to find one.. Glock are very nice guns, you can find them in the low 400's if you look.. I do not like them, but do shoot well with them, they come to sight very easy and natural feeling..

I am stuck between the Sigma 40VE and the Glock 22. The sigma feels better than the glock, because the sigma seems to have a more 1911 style grip on it which is super nice. The glock shoots a tad smoother though.

Glocks WAY better than a SW sigma (junk).

Me if I wanted a .40, it might be worth it to find yourself a SIG. Not gonna be cheap unless buying used but they are very reliable and well built guns. CZ is another option as well.

I actually love shooting the Ruger sr9. I have put alot of rounds through my friends. I know its small than a .40 but its in your price range and a good quality gun.

I'm not saying go all out, but do you really want your life to depend on a budget gun? If you're looking at the Glock go with the Glock. Personally I like the SW M&P because of the thinner grip. I also like the XD. For personal defense, I wouldn't look at anything less than those 3. And of course you could go up from there.

I have a smith and wesson 40. It's ok, but I prefer my glock way more. The glock is a much smoother gun.

i like my 92fs alot in 9mm and will be concealing it sometime most likely if i dont purchase a 40 cal xd tactical setup.

if i was looking for a tactical style gun an xd would be my choice. imo nicer than a glock and cheaper. glocks are overrated imo, they go bang but thats about it, hitting something multiple times is pretty tough. it just recoils so much and jumps around.

just my .02 though,
steve

Pocket gun you can't beat a diamondback db9. Right now I'm debating either a xdm compact, lcr, or the solo but the chances of getting a solo this year is going to be next to impossible

a buddy of mine has a glock 23, sub compact .40, it's bad *** for a decent sized carry gun. But i personally would not want 2 glocks... lol

A little late to the convo... BUT

I got my 1st handgun back in Feb and i went with the Springfield Armory 9MM Sub compact I have never fired any other gun AND I LOVE THIS ONE it has little recoil, light weight and feels awsome in the hands, I Personaly never found anything Negitive about the gun i picked up, I watched a lot of vids on Youtube about it, I have shot over 1000 rounds out of it with NEVER a misfire.
