Just wanted to write up a quick race report from Red Bud this past weekend. Including mine, there were three 250R's there (that I saw) racing at the national. I ran my Roll Design 250R in the 25+ class. Another member on here (redred55) ran his Laeger 250R in the 30+A class. Then another guy ran his Lonestar 250R in the Open A class.
I ran the 25+ class. In case you're not familiar with the national classes, that's a fast *** class. Top guys in 25+ and 30+A are all top A riders. Blazing fast. I'm more like a mid-pack B rider, maybe. :) It didn't bother me much cuz I was just there to have fun and represent the 250R.
Only had one local race under my belt this year before this national, so I knew I wouldn't be in any kind of shape to really push things around the track. I told myself I should rather finish the weekend in one piece than try to ride over my head.
Both race days, the 25+ class was almost the last of about 40 classes to run. To say the least the track was brutal. Lol.
First moto on Saturday. Had an ok gate pick at best. Was looking for too much traction off the start and pulled a massive wheelie. By the time I let it down and got back on the gas, everybody was 50 feet in front of me. Put my head down and ripped off four laps, managing to keep the rubber side down. Lol. Felt like I finished dead last, but surprisingly I finished 11th out of 18.
Second moto, better gate pick. Came out of the holeshot around 5th or 6th against all 450's. Was pretty happy with my little 250. Didn't try to hold any of the faster guys back and ended up finishing 11th again.
Overall, I went 11-11 for 9th overall out of 18. Given my lack of seat time this year I wasn't too disappointed at all. Quad ran good and I stayed in one piece.
I'll try to post some pics and get into a little more detail later.
