View Full Version : No spark after swapping motors

I have 2 250Rs, one is an 86 and the other is an 87, but both motors are 87s. Both ran great, but my 87 frame is nicer so I decided to put my "good" motor in that frame.

Finished up the swap, kicked it over, and no spark! Ending up swapping over the entire electrical system (minus stator/flywheel) and still nothing.

Any ideas?

check ground connection. if it is not grounded correctly or good enough it will not spark.

Yea check ground thought I blew my motor this past weekend when she started to studder . Got to the entrance of the dunes she straight died . Yesterday looked at harness there the ground to cdi disconnected.

Last night I switched complete wiring harnesses, doubled checked the ground, and still nothing.

I will check it again when I get home from work but I am 99% positive that the harness is properly grounded to the frame

Not to be a smart *** but do you have the ground to bare metal or to the paint?

It is the bare metal. I checked the ground to the coil with my battery charger and it is definitely not a ground issue.

I'm thinking it must be an issue with the flywheel/stator.

Ive seen stators quit working at any given time! Id try the stator from the other motor...

Swapped stators and flywheels, runs like a champ!
