new to honda i need some help

ive been riding suzukis since 06 and yamaha before that this is my first trx 450 and i have some rookie questions that i actually feel i little stupid asking
#1 how do i change the oil on this thing i know there are 2 seperate oils for motor and trans
#2 what kind of filters do i order
#3 prob most important the quad runs awesome starts with 1 kick almost every time but sounds very ticky almost like the valves but it runs great is that just how hondas sound??

The tranny and motor oil do not mix. they are seperate. oil preference is is yours.

I use Gn4 10w-40 and Honda tranny oil (Red Bottle).


Here is a link to how to change the oil for 04-05 models. Everything is the same except a few minor things. Your 08 Tranny drain plug will be under the sprocket. You will need an extension to get to it.

About that sound, yes that's normal, these hondas tick like crazy! As long as it starts easy and runs good your valves are good to go.
