Hi everyone, I've got a 400ex that's pretty built for TT/MX and I'm building another bike for XC. My XC bike needs a carb and I was planning on taking the '04/'05 450R carb off the TT bike, putting it on the XC bike, and buying a better carb for the TT bike. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The TT bike is currently a 426 11:1, race ported head, +1 intakes, full exhaust and converted to kick start. I'm plannin on a stroker crank in the near future, bringing it right to 450cc. I can get another '04/'05 carb pretty cheap, but I didn't know if there was something that was better. Thanks.

The 06 up FCR's are said to be a upgrade over the 04-05 ones, but are more difficult to fit..

Not disagreeing with anyone who has gave you a suggestion but there was something that was bad about the 06 carbs from the 450r but i cant remember what. WThey must not be too bad though because i am almost positive that Donny Ockerman runs a stock carb on his 06 Jet suspension 450r and he is XC1 pro

I know people will disagree but when it comes to racing you need more flow rather then carb feature's.

So I still and always will run the 05 450r carb being that it's a 42mm, until I can afford a 44mm lectron anyway...lol.

Mcgill and Bithell are the only 2 Can Am riders in XC1

Fitment issues aren't a problem for me, since I don't have a starter motor to worry about. I'm not going to be running an airbox for TT so I'm not concerned about spacing the intake back for the airbox to connect to the subframe.

I can get the '04 carb jetted without problem and love how easy it is. If I'm going to have more trouble getting a different carb jetted and only get minimal gains, I think I'll stick with the '04 carb. Does anyone have any more input?

My only dislike about the yami carbs is the dang throttle tends to stick on soooo many ive ridden or worked on. The cable gets dirty and needs to be cleaned and lubed like every few rides or so I heard.

I run a 39mm sparks on my xc quad. Starts quick and is very snappy. Which race was that pic taken at?
