I replaced rings and gaskets and let grandkids ride for about a hour, not hour straight.we were riding it slow in 1st gear and the engine made a pop sound.Pulled side covers andit had broke timing chain.one of the top timing gear bolts had backedout and popped head off bolt and broke timing chain. We replaced chain with engine in frame. Doubled checked timing its ok.But the pressure relief lever isn't working,if you push it down it just goes back up.Would this keep it from starting. It has good spark and seems to have compression and getting fuel. The compression sounds different when you push starter button.Engine sounds and feels ok.any ideas HELP

Im really a two stroke guy so I really dont have a helpfull answer but maybe check to see if when your turning it over that your timing chain is moving and that you did not shear something.

the timing chain is turning the cam .The only thing the compression relief lever doesn't work right when you push it down it just goes back up.
