it may be starving for gas first pull of the line that goes to the carb off the carb and see if you have a steady stream of gas then report back

yea,i have a steady stream,it seems like it has too much fuel because it is blowing black smoke. I will run it with the gas off,it gets going after a couple minutes, then dies, even when i turn the gas on. It wont even fire with the choke on

well your gonna probley have to get a new plug to try again cause if its black its no good to rich did you mess with the a/f screw ? if not then i dont know unless you installed somthing wrong
Float stuck perhaps?
Open the bowl and make sure its not filling up like crazy. But basically take it all apart, check the float-see if it floats in a small container of gas-it should float-it dont you need a new one.
Then check the float needle, make sure its clean and moves freely, then clean the jets of course.
