I no longe have my stock thumb throttle. idk where its at. Ive ran a vortex twist on the 450 and never even touched a thumb. I like the vortex because the pull is so short and im worried that if i get a stock honda thumb then it will be too long. Ive rode with thumbs just not my bike so i want to try it. so what is a good quality throttle that is really short. price doesnt matter.

since nobody is saying anything does that mean you all use the stock throttles and they work fine?

It will be perfect for that application. I have one with the TORS wires cut and one with them not cut. I will make you a deal on the one with the wires cut 40 shipped. The other one is on Ebay now, no bids yet.

The shorter the thumb throttle lever is, the harder it's going to be to push the throttle for long periods of time. This is a bigger problem with the FCR carbs. A lot of people modify the spring in the FCR carbs so that it's easier to push the throttle.

You don't need them. I'm pretty sure it stands for "Throttle Over Ride System" or something similar. It's a safety feature that can tell if the carburetor slide is open while the throttle is not being pushed. It will make the motor cut out. Most people cut the wires and tie them together to disable the safety feature.

as such dont even worry about taping or any thing you can either just remove the micro switch or just leave it... it will not affect anything on your quad, its only on the +06 cdi

its really a useless feature that only has a potential for a problem, just about everyone removes it..

if the throttle cable is out of adjustment the quad wont start,

the carb and throttle switch work together if one is open and the other closed it kills spark... a real pain, but almost all newer quads have something like this now

Yep, you guys nailed it. I run a twist on everything. That is why these are not being used.

they have to be different, and call it a
(Closed Throttle Position Detection System) but its still a throttle override. just Honda's way of being a little different

Yes. CRF did not have the Closed Throttle Position Detection System.......is your quad running with all those parts right now?

Get a trx 90 throttle its the shortest that i know of and works great and just bolts into your throttle housing ive used on on an 04,05,06,&09.

the just jogged my memory with hearing something about that trx90 throttle but cant remember completely. so everything bolts on perfect? and about the throttle cable...what kind of cable will i use for an 06 fcr carb on an 2005 with a trx90 throttle? Stock trx90, trx450 05, or trx450 06?

and will the pull of the trx90 throttle pull enough to open the carb completly?

NOTE: the motion pro throttle cable(05) length was fine when i switched to the fcr carb on my 05 but im not sure if the cable is longer than stock to compensate for that.

on mine (i used a trx90 throttle) I had to take just a little bit of the stop down inside the housing to get WOT

and if you get an older one they still have the raised HONDA logo on the cover, I like them better then the smooth covers
