trans gear questions

well i blew the transmission on my 86 250r. besides the case damage i lost both 2nd gear gears and the 5th counter. i've been looking for used replacements now with no luck so far. i know the 86 ratios are diffrent than 87-89 and the 86 atc is the same. is there any gears from the later trx's interchange with the 86? and will any 85 atc gears work?

85 stuff will work, 85 and 86 trx/atc motors are almost identical, some clutch and case difference, but it interchanges.

i have heard that the 85 atc is a 5-speed. some say there only 6. been awile since i seen an 85 but i thought it was a 5 also. was there a mid year tranny change?

85 atc250r is 6 speed. Maybe the 84 and earlier air cooled stuff is 5 speed
