Had a chance to pick up this 1994 Trans Am for a really good price.

Here's whats done to it-
Eagle rods/crank
Lower compression pistons
Ported heads/intake manifold
Comp Cam
Holley throttle body
1.6 roller rockers/springs
42lb injectors
MSD coil
MSD optispark
Crane Cams ingition
Adjustable panhard bar
Stage 3 clutch

I got it for cheap because it lost spark and he didn't have the time/money to fix it and his boss was yelling at him to get it out of the parking lot.

I diagnosed it as the optispark being bad, it wasn't sending a signal to the PCM to tell the coil to fire.

Just yesterday I sent it back out to MSD to have them rebuild it.

Once it's back and I get the car running, I am selling my 93 to buy the supercharger for this motor. (Had one before, he sold it seperately to try and make more money)

I'll keep this thread updated as I go.

So far the interior when i got it was kind of messed up. Been working on that while I wait for the optispark to come back in.
No before pics, but so far I installed a radio, re-painted the radio bezel, installed my hurst shifter and a non-ripped shift boot.

93-97's have the LT1.

I'm just finishing up wrapping my cracked dash pad in vinyl. I'll post pictures on EIU F-bodies if it comes out nice haha.

Get some video once you get that thing running!

Thanks, I appreciate it!

My goal is at LEAST 450hp to the wheels. With a 10-12psi pulley I should be over that.

Car is also going to be professionally dyno-tuned once everything is installed.

Yes it's still the 10-bolt, but it has 3.73's and a bearing girdle. 10-bolts usually always blow apart but with the aftermarket girdles, i've seen them hold quite a bit of power. haha.

By the way, here's a basic to-do list of what's to come-

ENGINE
-Bolt on rebuilt MSD optispark, get motor back together.
-Bolt on new MAF (previous owner lost it)
-Start her up, see how she runs.
-Sell my 93, buy supercharger
-Dyno tune

COSMETIC
-Remove side trim stripe things (much cleaner looking)
-ZR1 wheels
-Exhaust tips
-Possibly window tint

What size cam and who did the heads?

What springs?

What compression? Was the motor bored/stroked?

No headers? You will need SFC and LCA's

And the side trim is called body side molding, car looks clean when removed. I did it to my 95' Z28 and 00' TA

That's the thing, it was built in the past so im not sure. There was a sticker from the engine builder under the hood, Im gonna call him up today.

Has fell exhaust headers-back, and subframe connectors im pretty sure.

Who was the engine builder?

What are fell headers? You mean full headers? As in long tubes or shorties?

The guys friend's dad owned a shop did the work. The actual guy who owned it installed the motor itself.

And yes, I meant like, full exhaust. Headers-back. Longtubes.

Oh and I talked to the performance place (where the sticker came from)

They only dyno-tuned it. Didn't actually install anything.

All that and you only should make 450? Im not really into the v8 scene all that much but it seems that those numbers sound a little low. correct me if im wrong.

That was a very base minimum estimate. Similar setups I have seen push over 500 easily, I just don't want to keep being overly optimistic. I'd like to be surprised with a higher number:p

Yeah haha. Stock is only like 260hp to the wheels. Stock, with a supercharger, and only 6psi, I've seen push 390. So with the addition of everything mine has, im HOPING for about 550.

550 sounds fair at the flywheel. Those motors sound very nice with just a cam.

how much do they weigh right off hand? i know for a pure fact that one is neck and neck with a stock 99-04 GT 5 spd. both in stock form but the GT may weigh less, not 100% sure. Also got to love those opitcrap's.

Another thing is if i was you since you have another car to drive, id tear that motor down and replace every bearing and inspect all parts. You have no clue what that has been put through and it may run for a little while then as soon as you sell the other car, boom it will let loose. It happened to too many of my friends with those same cars.

Around 3300-3400 I believe?

I'm not worried about having something else to drive, I use my fathers 4cyl truck a lot anyway. So im just gonna wing it and hope for the best. haha

Not much of an update. MSD has the opti, just waiting for them to call when its done.

Got the ZR1's bolted up. This car needs to be lowered baddd.

I liked my DMS springs with Bilsteins shocks. I had the QA1 springs/shocks for drag racing, but was a PITA to dial in on the street. I was either floating or so stiff that I got no traction. Of course, big and skinnies don't help... :D

Hondamaster5505

If I have enough left I would love to go for Bilsteins.

Cleaned her up for the first time, cleaned up nice!

MSD is taking their sweet old time with the opti:rolleyes:

when you get that thing running with all these mods its gonna be a street demon, haha

i agree with a drop. about an inch and half, and some 18's with 305's or so on the back would be beast:macho

I would love some chrome 18's (Maybe Z06's) dropped 1.5", with tinted windows.
And the ceta mod on the rear bumper.

Can't wait to rip her around the streets:D

Update:

Got the Optispark back from MSD, bolted it in.
The car sounds like a BEAST. Runs nice now.

A little rich, supercharger this week :D

Looks good! I've got a 97 Z28 with a pretty similar mod list:

-355 w/ Eagle rotating assembly and Keith Black pistons (all forged)
-Comp .510/.510, .266/276, 114 LSA
-1.6RR's
-Ported stock heads/intake
-58mm throttle body
-blah blah blah (Wayy too much to type specifics)
-Powerdyne at 7psi

It runs out! Sure yours will do the same.

Just another update. Supercharger is bolted on, she's a fun ride!
Trans to be pulled out soon for a rebuild and picking up a glowshift triple gauge pod for my birthday.

Getting re-dyno tuned around the end of september or early october.

Very nice. Let me know what type of power it makes. I'll be switching to a Vortech soon, even though I'm not having any belt slip issues with my Powerdyne I don't 100% trust the internal belt above 7psi.

Well, haven't updated this thread in a while, but she rips. Got most of everything straightened out. Replaced the window motors. Everything's all good except for the trans still needing to be rebuilt.
But here's a quick video of me ripping up the road. Keep in mind the car is just spinning during the whole thing. haha.
