Does the axle nut back directly into the brake hub or does it have a washer in between them? Thanks

The axle nut is tightened toward the wheel, not the brake hub. You should have a clip in the groove on the axle, this is what the nut tightens against. I think this is what you are asking anyway.

The clip is in there and it gets tight. But what gets it tight is the pressure between the brake up and the clip. When you tighten the axle nut it presses against the clip and presses against the brake hub. I was just wondering if there was a washer inbetween the brake hub and the nut. Or does the nut just push up against it.

No washer, just against the brake hub and tightens up to make take up the excess play

Thanks. I might make a washer for it beside it broke my axle nut. The hub pushed into the lip of the axle nut. I think a washer would prevent that from happening again.

Can you post a picture? I don't see how that could have happened.

I don't know how to do it on my phone. It's a aluminum nut. The nut pushes on the brake up and the clip. The part that pushes on the hub pushed into the nut and broke it.
