thinking about removing my choke and going up to a 42 pilot should i also bump up in the main jet too or just play with af screw?

just bump the pilot and you should be good. mine runs great stock F/A with 42 pilot

let us know if that changes the performance of your machine. Duncan says they pull the chokes out of them also for better performance. I was going to pull mine out but haven't done it yet. Would rather just find a cheap FCR carb.(im dreaming with the cheap part LOL)

we took the choke off of my buddies 400 today because it kept sticking and we had to go in a turn on the F/A screw but i ended up picking up a 42 pilot when he was buying his im going to do mine tonight

one other question couldnt you just leave the rod in the carb and take the butterfly off?

People remove it to increase flow, so there's no reason to leave it, unless you want to be able to put it back on quickly.

i'd reccomend leaving it in unless you want to find a way to plug the hole where the lever was. i think its a great mod even with just the removal of the butterfly.

i ended up taking it off completely and i also upped my jetting to a 42 and i gotta say it was completely worth the time
