Which is faster?
What do they handle best in?

My dad wants to get a quad and was thinkin bout a 700xx, 450r, 400ex like mine, or ATC350X (wants really bad)

Honda 700s are crappy. The raptor 700 is for a fact the fastest quad from the factory. Money plays a big part in shopping. So you have to decide what u want to spend.

The 700 Raptor for sure. My friend has one and it is a really good all around quad. LOADS of power on tap, but you can ride it slow and easy if you want to also. It was a beast in the woods when he let me ride it. It doesn't have really low end torque like the 400's, so you have to keep the revs up, but if you can do that, you can go up, over, around, and through anything.

both of the 700s are very heavy and in my opion arent very fast .if he wants a mx quad definitly a 450r or 400ex but either one is good for dunes hunting is for utilitys lol its just down to price brand and riding style.

The raptor 700r is the fastest sport quad avaible. And its really not that much more heavier then a yfz450... It also doesnt have enough torque to pop a wheelie in every gear. the 700r would be your quad

It depends on what type of riding he wants to do. If he is someone that rides fairly hard and wants great performance then the Raptor or the EX. The independent suspension on the 700xx has way too much body roll and doesn’t feel rite.
The ATC 350x is a fun novelty but not something I would want to ride all the time.
Unless he wants to be the wheelie king, He will have more fun on a 4 wheeler.
For MX then there are lots to choose from, but my ex has out lasted every 450 that I ride with. It may be a little short legged on the top end but she's always top 3 across the finish line.

he's not gonna be racin thats for sure, but he has it narrowed down to a 400ex, 350X or the 450R

(i personally want him to get a 400ex like mine, but he's stubborn and can't tell him nothin)

400ex will be most forgiving of them all, very easy to ride, forgiving on the trails, and handles very well for what it is. 450r unless he knows how to clutch very well and keep it revved will not be rideable on trails (specially for hunting) and the raptor-been there done that they handle like poop Im sorry to say b/c they are too (top especially) heavy. A raptor shines in open country like dunes. As for a 350x, you want 3 wheels thats fine-be prepared to know how to ride one or learn quick, one false move and your going down hard.

Personally speaking where I ride is a mixture of sand pits, dunes and trails. Out of maybe 50 people I know who ride there maybe 5 have raptors-2 of them actually can ride them well but they are BIG (250+lbs) dudes. Everyone else pretty much has a yfz or honda 450r, there are still some (like me) who ride the EX, some banshees and 250rs. Very few kawi or z400s and utilitys and one kid has a 200x 3 wheeler and knows how to handle it. But the guys who can really ride got yfz450s, honda 450rs or done up EX's. I mean Id say 30 out of that 50 got those. What does that tell ya?

Tell him to go for the 400ex. Such a rider friendly quad. My Brother has a Raptor 700r. Thing is really fast but not stupid fast. the IRS on the 700x and the polaris Outlaws scare the hell outta me..and compared to other quads they seem very easy to roll..or at least for me there were:ermm:
