yesterday i went riding on country roads for bout 30 miles or so and when i gave it gas in 4th or 5th gear bluish smoke would come out of the muffler, is that really bad? its all stock so far but i put a K&N filter with outerwears on and took the lid off, thats all i have on it right now till wednesday when i get my carb jetted for my sparks pipe

probly to lean with no lid and a filter i wouldent ride it untill you get it rejeted sure its fun but it will burn up your rings (if you dident already but i doubt it) and possibly overheat

Yes filter and lid is ok, I wouldn't run it with out it, but I do not think you are going to hurt any thing.. As for the blue smoke that is oil.. It is possible you might have some blow by. I wouldn't worry about it..

Then you can say you have a reason to rebuild the engine

Probably just another example of a K&N filter letting fine dust get by and it destroying your motor! Mark my words you’ll be doing a ring job shortly. I told ya so!!! lol http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10189.gif (http://planetsmilies.net)

Yah a outerwear is a must. the K&N is more hype. Get you a good foam filter.. My valves had all kinda crap on them from running a k&n. After the 440 was done it got a foam filter..

One dusty ride is all it takes. But in all honesty how old is the bike and how many hours are on it and how well was it taken care of? What type of filter were you using and did you keep it clean with good filter oil on it?

i bought it brand new last december, it probably has 150 hours on it, its a 2008 model, i rode it today with the filter on and lid on in the trees and on a track, its fine no smoke, shifts perfect, rides great

They do tend to be jetted to lean from the factory, not sure why.

148 main and a 38 pilot is nowhere near enough. 150 main and 42 pilot is more like it imho.

If anything it could be to lean, dont ride it to long b/c you will ruin it. If your going to run the KN you best get an outwears prefilter fast or switch back to foam. I run an outwears lid and uni foam filter and couldnt be happier. After a day riding in sand the filter is covered-not a drop of sand gets into my carb.

i had the lid off this weekend for about 30 mins and my gpa said blue smoke came out, so i put the lid back on and it stopped this was the first time its ever done that, when i put the K&N filter on i put the Outerwears Prefilter on at the same time, ive never ran it without the outerwears
