1986 OEM swingarm

Does anyone know if grinding off the large skid plate mounting tabs on the 86 swingarm will reduce any of the design strength , just going to be a duner so I pulled the skid plate and the tabs look like they have to go, thanks

I don't think so. I'm going to hack mine off soon as I get a chance. I'll be running mx and sprocket guards. Still looking for a disc guard.
