Hi guys, I am helping a buddy of mine replace the stator on his 04 400ex. My questions are ...... one, does the flywheel nut loosen counter clockwise just like a standard nut, and two, will I need a puller to pull the flywheel out of the crank ?

Lastly, will an impact gun take out the flywheel nut or do I need to find a way to prevent the crank from spinning before hitting it with the impact gun ?

Thanks in advance for any input.

i goes in just like a regular bolt. im not sure if you can use a bolt from a hardware store.

if you buy a sparks key if comes with a puller.

id use a long crescent wrench to hold the crank

If Iam thinking correctly the flywheel does not have to come off to replace the stator. The stator mounts to the cover make sure to use blue locktight on the bolts that hold the stator on to the cover. They are easy to change if you have the parts you should be able to have it done in 30 to 45 minutes.

Sparks Key with that Bolt will work with an impact wrench no problem...if you still need to remove it.
