I have a 2008 Tacoma with a 2.5" leveling kit and 16x8 Moto Metal wheels. I want to know if Trail Grapplers will fit. I know they won't quite fit on a stock Tacoma, but I think they might fit on mine.

Well what size tires are you looking to run??
Not sure if they will fit until we know a size.

By 2.5 inch leveling kit did you raise the front or lower the rear?

Lifted the front. I know they have problems with them fitting on a stock height with stock wheels, but I'm wondering if the lift an the different backspacing of the aftermarket wheels would solve the problem.

I dont think you will be able too fit those.
With some trimming they might but i doubt it.

I Dont own a Toyota though so mayb someone will chime in that knows for sure.

Those are 33" tires. I have 285/65/17 on my half-ton Ram, and they rub the control arm. Height wise I would think you would be ok. Width will be your concern. It depends on the backspacing of those wheels versus the stock wheels.

Best bet is to get on a tacoma forum and ask. ;)

Google search showed 265/70/R17 being popular with a leveling kit. But your wheels offset would matter also.

Thats what i found also, i found guys running 285/70R16's on a 3in lift and they said they trimmed some just so they wouldn't rub, that's just what i found on one of the forums.

285/75/16 is 32.8(ish)x11.5x16. Might have to trim a bit but they should fit fine.

Offset of your moto wheels will dictate just how bad they will rub or not. More offset (sticks out further and usually what aftermarket wheels have).

Your wheels push everything out a good bit usually, so might fit 285's. Probably fit 265's fine tho.

Shame you dont have an older truck, my T100 can run 33's no problem on stock stuff-but they sit higher than even the older tacomas and pickups.

I don't really understand why you guys are talking about 285/65s and 285/75s when I'm talking about 285/70s. A 285/70/R16 is 31.89 inches high and 11.5 inches wide (atleast the Trail Grappler is which is the tire I'm looking at).

Because 285/70 is the same as a 285/65 and 285/75. That 2nd number is to counter-act the diameter of the overall size of the tire for what size wheel your running. So, a 285/65/17 (What I have) and a 285/70/16 is the same thing, roughly a 32.8" tall tire and 11.5" wide. ;)

To answer your question, the offset of the aftermarket wheels, will determine if and how bad you rub. A local tire shop should be able to tell you if you will rub or not.

Also, I am running Nitto Terra Grapplers, so the numbers I listed should be really close to the Trail Grapplers.

A 285/70 is 31.89.

Hes talking in terms of 16 vs 17 inch wheels.

Must also realize the load ratings of tires, if you want a certain size and buy a E range tire your gonna be sorry as its a 10ply tire and very stiff and will make your truck ride like a tank. Looking at the tires you want they are E rated tires, your gonna be quite sorry you bought them b/c like I said the truck will ride SUPER stiff. Try this, air up your tires to max pressure then go down a bumpy road, that is what its gonna feel like-if not worse.

Buy some 265/75/16 Its the same dang size as the 285/70/16's. Looking at nittos site they dont make the tire in that size sadly tho.

.

Not true at all! I don't know how many people told me this before I bought my tires. I went from worn out passenger Goodyear's to LT Terra Grappler's and it was NIGHT and DAY difference! From the second I left the tire store I was amazed. My truck rode like a tank with the Goodyears, and rides like a Cadillac now!

Not trying to bash or anything, I just call BS on that fact based on my personal experience.
