So my buddy is looking at trying to get some more out of his 250r. He found this ad on Ebay and wanted some advice.

It's been used, and needs to go up a size on the bore, but we could match a piston to the size right?

What I'm trying to ask is; Should he pull the trigger and buy this cylinder, or wait and find a better one? If there isnt alot of work involved, I'm sure he's be interested in fixing it up..

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks guys!

Link don't work for me . All a 265 is a cylinder bored to a certain size unless its a aftermarket cylinder . Esr has great deals going on right now . To good to pass up .

I looked on eBay and found 3 265 cylinders.. I think the one that you're looking at is the cheapy at 125$ or something?

It looks like a stock cylinder thats been bored/ported..

Could work though, but you get what you pay for IMO

If a stock cylinder is ported right they will run. My friend has a 265 . It bored and stroked to get it to 265 . That thing is snappy . But my 310 stroked was fast and faster then his . There is no replacement for displacement .

i wouldn't pay that much. i paid $115 for a brand new piston and rings and $50 for a cylinder on its first couple of bores.

I wouldn't pay more than $75-100 for that setup, but then again I'm never one for buying used piston/rings

Yah he didnt want to run the piston that comes with it, it would need to be bored again anyway..

I think my buddy thought it was an aftermarket cylinder, not a stocker bored out..

If he was still interested in getting to about 265cc, what should he do? Install a sleeve? I'll relay the info to him, he really appreciates any help he can get, and I like learning more on the subject :p

68.5mm bore will give you 265cc. You do not need to re-sleeve.

You can stroke it and leave stock bore and get to 265 but when you stroke it you'll have to set port timing . If he got the long rod he can use the 86 piston But u have to get a spacer plate . Yz pistons work they are like 2 mm instead of the 86 piston which is 4mm still need spacer plate . Cr ignition are awsome . Raced a 310 (they said unported ) they had center mount pipe stock stroke cr ignition 39 carb and he would have ether a bike length infront or behind . He had haulers I had -2 swing ARM and sand stars on . That ignition help him out alot .
