I've been wanting to know if you can install one of these on a 416? Or will it run too hot?

Its fine if you dont have a high compression piston. Got a hi-comp piston too much heat.

you'll have to run race gas to stay away from detonation. more heat, you'll need higher octane. i'd reccomend a less agressive timing key like the one made by a member on here who goes by "wheelie" and he makes +3 keys which are much more friendly with hi-comp engines.
10:1 is the highest you can go even with wheelies key. He says it will work with 11:1 but needs 100+ octane. I myself dont fancy spending 8 bucks a gallon tho.
Dont bother with the key if you already have the hi-comp piston anyways. A good cam, port and polish and good exhaust will make plenty of power along with the hi-comp piston.

i got a 10:1 piston. is it better then a stg.2 cam?

I haven't got anything done to mine yet. I was just thinking of doing some motor work when it blows, and was wanting alittle extra power till then. But if it won't work with the piston then I'll just stick with what I got.

Two totally different things. Piston raises compression which means more power, cam changes lift and duration of the valves-when the power occurs.
Stage 2 cam would be good on your 10:1 and work nicely together.

Just to clarify.
If you run 11:1 the timing key will advance the timing enough that it will create to much heat and have to run 100+ octane fuel.
If you run 10:1 you can install the timing key and your temp will be ok if you run 91 octane pump gas?
stupid question here. If you run a stage 1,2 or 3 cam will that make any difference in the heat of the engine with the advance key?
How much does this key help in performance? is it very noticeable?
Its not worth it if you already have 11:1 and a cam.
Yes the key does add throttle response and some power, but so does a stage 2 hotcam and a 11:1 piston.
