So i just got my 400 jetted correctly, or really close, with my new pipe and uni filter.
The next day my friend offers to sell my his 450r carb for $25 with the throttle cable.....

So, will all the rejetting and air box fitting be worth it in the end?

also, i dont know what jets need to go in the 450 carb to use with the 400ex....
I have a lot of 400 jets, but i dont know if they will work in a 450 carb.....

The 450r carb must be from a 04-05 model first off. Then you will need to buy the hotstart block off parts as well.

You can make it fit without an adapter but its easier of course with one.

As for jetting, for most its rather close to what the 400ex carb used. The jets are the same for both carbs as well.

Have a look at the sticky linked in my signature, there are all kinds of threads ont he 450r carb.

It will depend on any other mods you have. It should help some but not much. But for $25 you can’t go wrong. I would get it and hang on to it until you do some other mods and then put it to use. A simple 2” rubber water hose works real well for an extension for the air box. And it’s cheap too!
